Working to Understand the Social Crisis While Removing Barriers and Closing Gaps
Despite the robust growth of our local economy, the employment gap between our local employers and our minority talent has not narrowed. For example, Cedar Valley’s Black unemployment rate is almost five times more than the white unemployment rate. Aside from the lack of employment, the median income for Cedar Valley residents of color is half that of Cedar Valley white residents. When we created ONE Cedar Valley, we knew we had to be intentional about our mission—to remove barriers to employment for individuals and employers in the Cedar Valley.
Digital Resources - One-of-a-Kind in the Cedar Valley
At ONE Cedar Valley, we have leaders of community-based organizations serving on our Board, so we understand it can be a full-time job for folks to find services to help them remove a barrier.
While we have many independent resources they aren’t connected or centralized on one platform. That is why we are creating a digital platform that will link community-based organizations to one another, help ensure clients are not lost in navigation and connect providers and individuals with employers ready to hire.
